Late Thursday afternoon all libraries in Southern Ontario were notified that due to provincial budget cuts to Southern Ontario Library Service the interlibrary loan service would cease as of April 26, 2019. SOLS provides both the delivery service and the software that makes the sharing of materials between the provincial libraries possible.
Prince Edward County currently has over 500 books that must be retrieved to be returned prior to that date. We have some 600 volumes on loan to libraries outside of the County.
This is a service that has been well used and often praised by County residents.
We are deeply sorry that this is no longer a service that we will be able to offer.
The exchange of books in the County collection will not be affected, our internal courier will continue to run.
