DECEMBER 3, 2019
The holidays are almost upon us. There are so many community celebrations going on all across the County, and at the Library we are happy to be part of several this season.
Ameliasburgh celebrates its annual Christmas in the Village on Sun, Dec 1 from 1 – 4 p.m. This is a multi-location event, featuring horse-drawn wagon rides to take you between all eight locations. The Library will feature the ever-popular Green Screen where you can have your photo overlaid on top of a fabulous holiday scene, as well as grab a tasty treat or two.
Be sure to visit the Ameliasburgh Town Hall, where there will be crafts, cookie decorating, and refreshments. At the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, catch the horse-and-wagon and see the decorated log cabin (cider and cookies) and the operating blacksmith shop. There are many more treats in store, including a children’s craft at QEMA’s Victoria Schoolhouse, music at the Prince Edward Auto Club, a bake sale at the Masonic Lodge, and more. This free event is sponsored by the Ameliasburgh Recreation Committee, with support from all of the participating locales.
Also on Dec. 1, we’ll see you in Picton for the Santa Claus Parade. We’ll be marching with treats to hand out and accepting donations from onlookers as we pass!
Next, the Library is hosting two opportunities to visit Santa’s workshop and help the elves in making an LED Christmas Card. Combine STEAM learning with the spirit of the holidays, and bring home a Christmas greeting that lights up. You can join us in Picton on Sat., Dec. 7 or in Wellington the following Sat., Dec 14, both from 2-3:30 p.m. This is a drop-in event and everyone is welcome.
For those is the Western part of the County, make sure to head to check out Christmas in Consecon on Sun., Dec 8 from 10 a.m – 1 p.m. Don’t miss breakfast with Mrs. Claus & Elves at the Legion, then head to the Masonic Lodge to visit the reindeer feed station, a craft table, balloons by Christopher the Twistopher & face painting by Natalie Stone. If you missed our LED Christmas card craft at the Library, Whitney will be there with everything you need to take a twinkly card home with you.
Finally, we’re thrilled to be part of the Annual Drake Devonshire Holiday Pop-Up Market on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. You can find us at the welcome tent by the bonfire where we’ll have a Christmas tree with ornaments for sale, Library water bottles, mugs and maps, and of course, information about the Picton expansion. We will also be running a gift-wrapping table for all your purchases. With vendors like Centre & Main Chocolate, Denise Couture Jewelry, Kinsip, L’Atelier Du Presbytere, Carson Arthur, Sunday’s Company, SHED, FloraLora, The Ye11ow, Good Place, PEC Honey Co. and Silverplate Press.
We hope to see you out and about this season at one of these free events or in one of our branches.
In the spirit of giving, it’s the perfect time to find out more about our expansion plans and support us by purchasing a mug, getting a gift wrapped, or simply by making a donation. We still have several naming opportunities available; visit timetorenew.ca to learn more.
