Picton Gazette

Hélène Richler will lead a friendly conversational French group online, starting Thursday, October 1 at 1 p.m. No experience required, and you’re welcome to join whether you’re learning your first French words or practicing skills that are a bit rusty! Meet and chat with other language learners.

Register online at peclibrary.org or call the Picton Branch Library at (613) 476-5962.

If you’re new to Prince Edward County and haven’t yet joined the Newcomers group that meets weekly via Zoom, there is still space to join us Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Each week we have a guest speaker who can share a little about their experience in the County. Email liz@peclibrary.org or call the library to register. Thank you to Mayor Steve Ferguson and historian Peter Lockyer for joining us already.

Although most of the library’s programs will be held online for the duration of 2020, we are taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather by offering an outdoor program at the Wellington Branch Library. Children are invited to join the Adventure League Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. or Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required by contacting Joanna at jhoward@peclibrary.org or calling (613) 476-5962. A COVID-19 prescreening will be required. Bubble storytimes are available at every branch of the library. You can book a time to bring your family “bubble” outside of library hours and we’ll share a story and do a craft. While you’re here, select your own library books or we are happy to prepare a surprise bag for you if you let us know your children’s interests.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the library’s programs this year. We are already beginning to think about what the library’s programs will look like in Winter 2020, and we welcome any feedback you may have. You can share your thoughts at any branch of the library, or by emailing liz@peclibrary.org. It’s important to us that everyone who wants to participate in library events are able to, and if technology or internet connectivity is an issue, please know that we have easily sanitized laptops available at each branch of the library so that you can participate from within the library.

The library’s tech help team is available to help you if you need guidance in using Zoom, and they’re happy to book a one on one appointment with you to answer any tech questions you may have. Reach them at the Picton Branch Library or email techhelp@peclibrary.org .

NOTICE: If someone in your life would benefit from a print magnifier that can make any printed text larger, a library patron has donated one to be given to someone who can use it. Call the Picton Branch Library at (613) 476-5962.
