Library Courier (Part-Time)
The County of Prince Edward Public Library & Archives is seeking a meticulous, highly dependable individual to fill the role of Part-Time Library Courier. This role is integral to the seamless operation of our system, requiring focused attention to detail and signifi cant physical endurance.
About the Role
- Hours of Work: 6 hours per week.
- Compensation: $21.81-26.44/hr.
- Union & Benefits: This is a unionized position (CUPE Local 5562); compensation includes the option to participate in the OMERS pension plan and a percentage in lieu of benefits.
- Probationary Period: This position is subject to a three (3) month probationary period as per the Collective Agreement.
- Location: Travel among all six library locations: Picton, Wellington, Milford, Consecon, Ameliasburgh, and Bloomfield.
- Reports To: Executive Assistant to the CEO.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
The Courier is primarily responsible for ensuring the secure, accurate, and timely logistics and transportation of all Library materials among all six library branches.
- Execute the comprehensive delivery circuit among all six library branches: Picton, Wellington, Milford, Consecon, Ameliasburgh, and Bloomfield.
- Collect, sort, and ensure accurate internal delivery of materials, correctly routing mislabeled or difficult-to-handle cargo.
- Assume strict accountability for the secure collection and delivery of secured funds (cash/reports) and high-value technology equipment (e.g., e-readers, computers, musical instruments).
- Assist with light janitorial duties and the setup, relocation, and rearrangement of furniture and equipment as directed at various locations.
- Maintain vehicle logs and perform basic routine maintenance checks (e.g., checking fluids, tire pressure) on the personal vehicle used for service.
- Secure all library buildings according to strict library procedures when visiting after hours.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Mandatory: Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license, a clean driving abstract, and a
reliable personal vehicle with sufficient cargo capacity for oversize items. - Bondability: Must be bondable and able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Insurance Requirement: Must provide proof of a personal vehicle insurance policy with
minimum $2,000,000 (Two Million Dollars) in Automobile Liability Insurance, naming The
Corporation of the County of Prince Edward Public Library as an ‘Additional Insured’ on the
policy. - Required to maintain a high level of confidentiality for all documents and materials handled.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is required upon hire
Physical and Environmental Demands
The successful candidate must be able to perform physically strenuous duties in all weather conditions.
- Ability to drive and operate a vehicle safely in ice, snow, and other hazardous weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, load/unload from the vehicle, and carry up/down stairs and ramps heavy boxes weighing up to 40 lbs (18.14 kg).
- Ability to push and pull fully loaded book carts and dollies, occasionally exerting a force of up to 75 lbs when maneuvering equipment.
- Requires the stability to navigate potentially unsalted/unshovelled ice, snow, and mud while carrying heavy boxes

Assistant Information Technology Coordinator
The County of Prince Edward Public Library & Archives is seeking a tech-savvy, instructional-minded professional to fill the role of Assistant Information Technology Coordinator. This position provides essential first-level IT support and digital literacy training among all six library branches to ensure equitable technology access for our patrons and staff.
About the Role
- Hours of Work: 15 to 35 hours per week.
- Compensation: $27.60-33.46/hr.
- Union & Benefits: This is a unionized position (CUPE Local 5562); compensation includes the option to participate in the OMERS pension plan and a percentage in lieu of benefits. Eligibility for the full medical benefits package is reached at 25 hours worked per week.
- Probationary Period: This position is subject to a three (3) month probationary period as per the Collective Agreement.
- Location: Service is provided across all six branches: Picton, Wellington, Milford, Consecon, Ameliasburgh, and Bloomfield. Must be available for weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Reports To: Manager of Circulation & Customer Experience.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant IT Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing first-level support for IT usage, resources, and services among all six branches.
- Develop, document, and deliver digital literacy programs and technology workshops covering software, digital tools, online security, and makerspace equipment.
- Provide ad hoc technology assistance and one-on-one tutorials to patrons and staff.
- Offer first-level support for library IT operations, troubleshooting routine hardware, software, and network issues.
- Assist with installations, relocations, and changes to IT and makerspace equipment under the supervision of the IT Coordinator.
- Support library copiers, projectors, sound systems, and other technical equipment.
- Lead video and audio production for documenting events and creating digital instructional content.
- Perform circulation and reference functions, including check-ins, check-outs, and assisting patrons with material location
Required Qualifications
- Education: Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology or a related field (Secondary School Diploma required). An MLIS or library-related education is preferred.
- Experience: Two to three (2-3) or more years of progressive experience in digital literacy instruction, makerspace operations, or IT-related library services.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting IT hardware, software, and online platforms.
- Bondability: Must be bondable and able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Driver’s License: Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable transportation for work-related travel among all six branches.
- Certification: Current CPR/First Aid certification will be required.
- Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective staff training and patron engagement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 lbs (18.14 kg).
- Physical dexterity to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl to manage hardware and equipment installations.
