JULY 18, 2019

The Prince Edward County Public Library strives to make a multitude of diverse community connections to bring you new and exciting events.

To that end with an eye towards benefitting both, the Library and the local theatre scene, have joined forces with Shatterbox theatre to bring you a night of bold entertainment on July 27th from 7-11p.m.

“Cue the Night” brings the best of two worlds together and will leave you with a sense of what Shatterbox is about- the flavor of the company, as well as a view into the Library’s Time to Renew fundraising campaign.

This event contains something for everyone including selections from shows many will not have seen before giving people the chance to experience theatre in an intimate setting.

“We wanted to peel back the production layers, so people are immersed in experiences and interact with the performers,” artistic director and co-founder of Shatterbox Theatre Georgia Papanicolaou. “For Shatterbox, it’s key we can provide affordable access to these types of productions, including offering free workshops to our youth and community members to learn and get involved which is why partnering with the Library makes sense.”

The Library is so dynamic and the synergy between the Library and Shatterbox melds well.

We look forward to future workshops and offering the arts in our community through this central hub.

Cue the Night will not only give attendees the opportunity to submerge themselves in a variety of theatrical performances, they will also get a first look at the opening show of the Shatterbox 2020 season.

The final performance of the night will reveal the musical that has been kept a closely guarded secret.

Actors from many of the scenes have been working to bring together three pieces from the mystery musical.

For a touch of added mystery, audience members will not immediately know who the actors are.

Don’t be alarmed if the person beside you suddenly breaks into song. It’s all part of the show.

Many of the scenes will be happening flash-mob style to take you by surprise and add pops of activity throughout the hall.

Sam Hirst will be playing double duty as musical director for the show as well as a band member for Cue the Funk, a local funk band, which will be providing accompaniment and dance-worthy music to keep the night hopping after the actors have taken their bows.

There will be an array of snacks included in the ticket price (just $35), as well as Kinsip cocktails for purchase. Eat, drink, dance and enjoy the talents of the community in this all-in-one event.

Cue The Night will be a memorable evening we hope will inspire you to participate in future events for both the Library and Shatterbox.

All proceeds from the night will benefit the Prince Edward County Public Library Expansion project as well as Shatterbox Theatre for their future projects.

Get your tickets at peclibrary.org/cue-the-night/ and help spread the word.

We’re also partnering with Shatterbox later this summer for a free musical theatre workshop for youth 13+ on August 13th.

This workshop will be in high demand and so sign up today.
