Art on the Shelf Fundraiser

Expansion

You may remember an art show called Art on the Shelf that was presented a few years ago at Black Prince Winery by the Friends of the Picton Library. It has been revived as a fundraiser for the Picton Library Expansion – ‘Time to Renew’, and we will be the event coordinators. The event will take place over the three weekends of Wassail in November and December at the Macaulay Museum.

The premise of the show is to promote the symbiotic relationship between art and literature. The theme is simply this – paint, sculpt, photograph, create a book title—for instance—if your favourite book is Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, then paint a frozen creek or if you loved the book One Hundred Years of Solitude then sculpt a figure on a beach looking out over the water. We are sure you get the picture.

We would like you to give a brief explanation [50 words or less] about why you chose the particular book your art work is based on. This will be displayed next to your art work on the small card which gives particulars about the medium, price etc.

Please e-mail to dougevelynsloane@gmail.com. For an application.
