The Story of my Summer

Uncategorized

Did you miss Toddler Time at the Wellington Branch Library this morning?

Fortunately, this morning’s craft was a fun and easy one that you can easily do with your kids. This is a particularly good activity to do with your kids if they’re headed back to school next week. This activity will help your kids sharpen their storytelling skills, their memory, and, of course, their hand-eye coordination as they colour and draw up a storm!

Print off these files, then sit down and chat about all the things you did this summer as you create a book all about your summer activities.

Instructions:

  1. If you have printed the booklet pages with 2 or 4 pages per sheet, cut them apart.
  2. Cut the line art out of the Colour Me page.
  3. Read your kids the prompts on each page of the Story of my Summer booklet. Allow them to pick images for each page. Older kids may want to draw their own images on each page.
  4. Glue the images on each page, and colour them as you go. It’s ok to get a little messy!
  5. When your child has completed all the pages they’re interested in, add the cover page and staple the pages together.
  6. Add their name to the cover page and let your child read their book to you.
