Dr. Niigaan Sinclair: St. Mary Magdalene Picton

In partnership with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, we will welcome Dr. Niigaan Sinclair, of the Anishinaabe people and son of Dr. Murray Sinclair, Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Niigaan is an associate professor at the University of Manitoba teaching courses in Indigenous literatures, cultures, histories and politics. He is a regular commentator on Indigenous issues for CTV, CBC, and APTN. His work is published in The Exile Edition of Native Canadian Fiction and Drama, The Guardian newspaper, and online with CBC Books: Canada Writes. We are very fortunate that he has graciously agreed to speak in Prince Edward County after a day with teachers and students in Belleville and share with us his perspective on this historic figure.
