An extraordinary number of cookbooks have been published in Ontario since The Cook Not Mad first appeared, in Kingston in 1831. Liz Driver (Director of The Campbell House Museum and author of Culinary Landmarks: A Bibliography of Canadian Cookbooks, 1825–1949) will discuss her top ten favourite Ontario cookbooks up to the mid-twentieth century, plus some County cookbooks in the collection of PEC Museums. Bay of Quinte Cake from the remarkable 1888 Dora’s Cook Book, by Dora Fairfield of Bath, will be served. You are welcome to bring a cookbook from your own County kitchen for Liz’s comments after the talk. Registration is not required.
