History Of The Wellington
Library
Prior to 1926 there were no library facilities
in the village of Wellington until the Women's Institute, realizing the need, took advantage of
the facilities of a government travelling library service and established a small library. A
former Wellington native, Dr. Parry D. Saylor, decided to erect a memorial to his mother, Annie
Dorland Saylor, and donated the cost of a small but well equipped library to serve the
village.
Today the library is still prospering and very
active. The collection includes books, magazines, large print, VHS, DVDs and talking books as
well as children's programming and 10 public computers with free access to the internet.
Meeting facilities are available as well. The library is wheelchair
accessible through the East Street, side entrance, and disabled parking is
also available.
