History Of The Consecon Library
The Consecon Branch of
the County of Prince Edward Public Library is located in the former Holy Trinity Anglican
Church, across from the Post Office in Consecon. The last religious service was held in the
stone Church in 1978. A year later, the Township of Ameliasburgh opened a portion of the
building for use as a library. Today, after major renovations, it is a large, bright
library that is wheelchair accessible. The building has been designated by the County of Prince
Edward as a heritage property, under the Ontario Heritage Foundation.
The bell, which rang four times a day from the belfry of the old Consecon school (1843 - 1967)
is housed in a monument outside the library.
The library's collection includes books, videos, DVDs, magazines, large print materials
and talking books. Other services include interbranch and interlibrary loans, children's summer
reading programs, adult book club and a Friends of the Library group. The library is wheelchair
accessible by ramp from Squires Street.
The Library has four public access computers with internet
access available for use.
