History Of The Bloomfield
Library
The Bloomfield Branch of the County of Prince Edward Public Library is a small, friendly
library with a colourful history. Founded in 1896 by Mr. William Bowerman, the library was open
from 8am - 9pm, six days a week!
Although we can no longer boast such lavish hours, we are able to provide library users with a
collection of over 13,000 titles, including current best sellers, fiction and non-fiction,
large print, reference and audiovisual materials. We have an appealing variety for children and
young adults, including CD-ROM Living Books on computer. Through the Southern Ontario Library
Service database, we can order just about any other book not on our shelves by means of our
inter-library loan service. The branch is equipped with 4 public access computers, all with
free access to the internet. Reserving a computer in advance is recommended.
For patron convenience, renewals and other transactions may be conducted online using iBistro
or by using our telephone voice mail when the library is closed. A drop box is available for
use during non-library hours. Also, the library is wheelchair
accessible through the front, sidewalk entrance, and disabled parking
is available directly in front of the branch.
