History Of The Ann Farwell Library

Nestled in the heart of Milford, the Ann Farwell Public Library was started through the efforts of Jeanne Minhinnick and Ann Farwell in 1951, when they arranged 2,000 donated books on the town hall stage and opened the door to library service in Milford. By 1993 the library had grown so much that the community, led by some dedicated volunteers, built a new, fully accessible library to serve their needs. The library is wheelchair accessible through the front entrance by ramp. Disabled parking is also available.

Today the branch has over 12,000 items in the collection. For children, there are board books, picture books, easy reading, young reader's fiction, VHS, DVDs and audio tapes. For adults, there are current best sellers, old favorites, classic literature, books on tape, large print, fantasy and science fiction, and magazines, both current and back issues. The library also has non-fiction for all ages on most subjects, a quick reference section, several online databases including iBistro, the library's online catalogue access, plenty of local history and genealogy, interlibrary loan service, children's programming and 3 public computers with free internet access.

Dunchan, Chal and Sarah dropped in the Ann Farwell branch for Teen Body Art and fit in a game of chess too. Callum and sister Isobel show off the pottery they made at one of the Ann Farwell Library's summer Clayworks event.
