Believe it or not, most of the people that work at the
library love to read! Here are some of their favourite books for teens:

My teen picks are all by Canadian authors. I recommend "True Confessions of a Heartless
Girl" by Martha Brooks. A fast-paced, realistic story. I loved it, bought it for the teens
in my family a couple of years ago, when it first came out. Brooks is a terrific writer. She
doesn't back down from difficult issues. I also enjoyed her "Being With Henry", a
compassionate story about the relationship between a teenaged boy and an old man.
I also recommend "Kat's Fall" by Shelley
Hrdlitschka; "The Losers' Club" by John Lekic, "Waiting for Sarah" by
BruceMcBay & James Heneghan (anything by Heneghan, actually. Great writer. Try "The
Flood.")
Also, "Daughter," by Ishbel Moore, "The
Leaving" by Budge Wilson, and my number one favourite at the moment:" A Thief in the
House of Memory" by Tim Wynne Jones. This book has a male protagonist, is well-written and
keeps your interest right to the end.
