Description
The Canadian Reference Centre is the largest collection of regional full-text content available - it combines Canadian magazines, newspapers, newswires, and reference books. Highlights include Canadian Geographic, The Toronto Star, and the Washington Post. This is a great "general purpose" source for information on a wide variety of topics. It also includes an image collection with 107,135 photos, maps, and flags.

NetLibrary Ebooks and Audiobooks

If you have not signed up for a NetLibrary account, you will need to do so from within a library branch. New accounts can not be created from home. From a library computer visit the NetLibrary link above and choose Create a Free Account in the top-right of the screen. Fill out the form and click "Create Account". After creating your account you will be able to use NetLibrary from ANY internet connected computer.

Description
The Oxford English Dictionary is the accepted authority on the evolution of the English language over the last millennium. It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of over half a million words, both present and past. It traces the usage of words through 2.5 million quotations from a wide range of international English language sources, from classic literature and specialist periodicals to film scripts and cookery books.

The OED covers words from across the English-speaking world, from North America to South Africa, from Australia and New Zealand to the Caribbean. If you'd like to confirm that a book is available before we request it from another library, search "VDX". This tool allows you to search many libraries in Southern Ontario. If you find a title or titles that you'd like to request, you can do this yourself in a few, easy steps or send an email to illodept@peclibrary.org and include your name, phone number, library card number, and the title and author(s) of the materials you'd like. VDX can also be used to place your own interlibrary loan requests.  Ask a librarian for more information.
