Local History
Steeped in Loyalist history, Prince Edward County is an
island proud of its rich heritage. Marine history and a long lineage of fishing and farming
families form its roots, and this remains evident today as sailors find haven in Picton Bay and
other harbours of the island, and farm fields provide fodder for a remarkable array of fine
food restaurants.
Charming farmhouses dot the rural landscape and
architecturally significant buildings grace the streets of the small towns and
villages.
